The Scarborough Blizzard girls U11 rep soccer team had something to prove at this year's Whitby Soccer Tournament recently.

Last year the team lost in the finals, but this year the girls took home the championship.

"It was a very big win for us," said team manager Nancy McCormick.

The team made it to the semifinal of the tournament on penalty kicks against Whitby B2.

They went on to play against Whitby B1 in the finals and beat them with a final score of 2-1 in extra time.

Team members are: Rhiannon Thomas, goalie, Shamika Langevine, Jessica Kaatz, Morgan Crawford, Samy Hanrath, Jacquelin Salvatore, Corinna Zhu, Katherine McCormick, Vanna Staggolis, Charlotte Allen, Dominique Rumball, Siana Carlse, Natasha Cyrille and Maja Zdravkovic.
