Scarborough goaltender signs with Central Hockey League

A Scarborough goaltender who plays Canadian university hockey with the Queens Golden Gaels has just signed a contract with the Texas-based Laredo Bucks of the Central Hockey League.

Ryan Gibb, 23, was a key contributor for the Gaels last season and earned the Ontario University Athletics East Most Valuable Player award.

He had a 2.86 goals against average.

He leaves his Queen's University hockey career after two seasons, having played in 46 games with a 3.12 goals against average (GAA) with two shut-outs.

"When the opportunity presented itself, I couldn't pass it up," Gibb said of his decision to pass up his final years of Canadian university hockey eligibility and turn pro.

"It's been an honour to wear the Gaels uniform and be a part of helping build a stronger hockey program. I am going to miss my teammates, but I'm excited to take a shot playing professionally."
