Toronto Islands a hidden oasis

Constantly we are told revitalize this and that and change is for the better.

Yet right under our noses there's a little out-of-the-way oasis that seems to have gotten ignored - Toronto Island.

Toronto's blessed with the fact we are a waterfront city and a great deal of tourism is devoted to this fact. So why not revitalize the island? When you take a deeper look at the island, things begin to pop out that warrants spending money to incorporate changes.

The rides are outdated, some dated as far back as 1967, and where someone may have a safety concern. Children splash around in dirty splash pools where a modern pool would be more appropriate.

Perhaps the city can explore simple ideas such as horse-drawn carriages to tour remote areas of the islands. Instead of outdated snack shacks, a lavish restaurant overlooking the city's skyline would enhance the appeal.

Toronto Island is a vital tourist attraction that if revitalized could generate new source of revenue. These changes would help stimulate interest in the island.

I want to believe the city cares enough to squeeze out some funds to stimulate interest in one of our little treasures in this city.
