A one-year visitor's visa extension was granted to the brother of the man killed in the Sunrise Propane Industrial Gases explosion Aug. 10.
The request by Vikramjit Singh Saini of India was granted by Citizenship and Immigration Canada Wednesday, Nov. 12, to allow the 33-year-old to tie up outstanding legal and insurance matters relating to his brother's death. The extension also allows Saini to travel back and forth between Canada and India.
After arriving in Toronto for his brother's funeral, the lawyer for Vikramjit's family advised it would take a year to deal with claims against Sunrise Propane. Vikramjit had entered Canada on a single entry, two-month visitor's visa.
Parminder Singh Saini, 25, was killed in the early morning blast while working at Sunrise Propane in the Keele Street and Wilson Avenue area.
