BEACH: Photo of suspected kidnapper's tattoo released
They've released a photo of a tattoo that resembles the suspect's tattoo, which is on his right outer forearm between his wrist and elbow.
The tattoo, which is drawn with black ink and has no visible colour, is of an eagle with one wing extended and the other folded. The eagle was possibly standing on something or there is writing beneath it.
The attempted child abduction happened Friday, June 27 at 9 a.m. near Coxwell Avenue and Hanson Street when a mother was walking with her three-year-old daughter and a younger brother.
A man, who was hiding in the bushes, attempted to kidnap the three-year-old child as the family travelled westbound along a walkway just south of the railway tracks, running from Coxwell Avenue to Woodfield Road.
Police report that the suspect allegedly reached through a gap in the fence, grabbed the little girl and started pulling her through the fence.
Luckily, the mother was able to kick the suspect in the upper arm and free her daughter from the man's grasp.
He was last seen fleeing on the railway tracks between Coxwell Avenue and Woodfield Road.
The suspect is described by police as white, five-feet eight- to five-feet nine-inches tall, 175 pounds with salt-and-pepper shoulder-length hair and similarly coloured scruffy facial hair.
He has a lazy or slightly drooped left eye and his general appearance is dirty. He was last seen wearing a navy blue or black shirt that was ripped near the right shoulder area.
Police are encouraging members of the public to be extra careful with their children while walking in this area.
